# About this guide

Welcome to Digital Lifelines Scotland! 

As part of the work you're doing around digital inclusion, you will likely be buying devices and/or connectivity. This can sometimes feel like a daunting or overwhelming process.

You may already have your own procurement routes, which is great. You can keep using these channels to get what you need. 

Alongside purchasing new equipment, organisations may also wish to consider the use of refurbished devices as part of their procurement approach. Secure reuse and refurbishment can provide a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable way to access suitable devices, while supporting wider digital inclusion efforts. Devices sourced through trusted reuse partners are typically professionally refurbished and securely wiped in line with recognised data security standards. Taking a blended approach, combining new and refurbished equipment, can help extend budgets and support longer-term sustainability. For those who would like some assistance to buy devices and/or connectivity, we've pulled together this guide to help you. 

Digital Lifelines has access to Scottish Government procurement channels. These channels are available to you as an organisation being funded through Digital Lifelines. 

This guide will take you through the different device and connectivity options available through our procurement channels, their prices and specifications, as well as information on the ordering process and delivery lead times. 

The insights in this guide, and the devices we've selected, are based on input from Digital Lifelines Early Adopters II and their experiences of doing digital inclusion work with people at risk of drug-related harm.

We do everything we can to ensure that these devices are available throughout the duration of your funding period. However, we are subject to potential price changes and supply issues from our suppliers throughout the course of the year. We always endeavor to identify any changes to models or prices before your order window. Where prices have changed or stock levels have reduced we will always seek to find a suitable replacement device.
